The wait is finally over. The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially released 279 UTME results that were previously withheld for investigation over suspected examination malpractice during the 2026 UTME. This development brings relief to hundreds of anxious candidates awaiting their fate.
According to an official statement issued on Thursday by JAMB’s Public Communication Adviser, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, the release follows ongoing investigations into cases of suspected examination malpractice. Importantly, this release is in addition to results the Board had already made public.
Good News: 279 JAMB Results Freed After Investigation
After a detailed and painstaking review of cases flagged during and after the examination process, JAMB has freed 279 results that had been held back pending further scrutiny. The Board disclosed that its decision came after investigators found no prima facie evidence linking the affected candidates to examination malpractice.
JAMB noted that where evidence of wrongdoing was clearly established, results were outright cancelled. But for those found innocent of any infraction during the JAMB original results verification process, the scores have now been released.
Results Still Under Review — What Affected Candidates Must Know
Despite the good news, JAMB has made it clear that investigations are still ongoing for results from examination centres flagged by its live monitoring team for suspicious activities, as well as centres linked to adverse reports. Such results will remain withheld until the conclusion of the review process.
The Board warned that any candidate found culpable after further investigation will have their result cancelled in line with its examination regulations. Candidates who are still unable to access their scores should not panic, but rather stay informed through official channels.
How to Check If Your Result Has Been Released
If you are among the affected candidates, JAMB has provided a straightforward way to confirm whether your result has now been released. Simply send “UTMERESULT” to either 55019 or 66019 using the same phone number you used during your JAMB registration.
Candidates are also advised to regularly check the official JAMB result-checking portal using their registration details. Avoid third-party websites that mimic JAMB’s portal, as these can compromise your personal information.
What This Means for Your Admission and Education Journey
The release of these results comes at a critical time as the admission process for the 2026/2027 academic session is already in motion. JAMB has retained 150 as the cut-off mark for university admission and 100 for polytechnics.
